Katie Taylor has announced her intention to retire this year following one final bout in Dublin.

The two-weight undisputed champion Taylor (25-1, 6 KOs) expressed her desire to compete at Croke Park in Dublin, although specifics regarding her opponent and the date remain unconfirmed.

“I simply want to fight in Dublin to conclude my career,” Taylor stated to RTE.

“Naturally, we are still hopeful for Croke Park, and we are holding on to some hope that it can take place.

“If it doesn’t materialize, there are numerous alternatives available. I have fought at the 3Arena a few times, and the Aviva Stadium is also an option.

“Croke Park would be at the top of my list.

“Competing in my final match at our most iconic venue would be incredibly special.

“I believe it would be truly remarkable if I could achieve that. I’m uncertain if it will happen or not.

“Regardless, I will be concluding my career here, and I am very, very excited about that.”

At 39 years old, Taylor has not fought since her victory over Amanda Serrano last year.

The only mark on her professional record was a defeat in Dublin to Chantelle Cameron three years ago, but Taylor successfully avenged that loss in a rematch.

She transitioned to professional boxing after an outstanding amateur career, which included winning the 2012 Olympic gold medal and five world championships.

Taylor has been a key figure in elevating women’s boxing to new heights.

While her next fight is not officially scheduled, she has made it clear that she aims to write one last chapter in her home country before retiring from the sport.
