Jake Paul is aiming for a comeback to the boxing ring in late 2026 or early 2027 after undergoing a second jaw surgery following his knockout defeat to Anthony Joshua in December.

“I recently had my second surgery, and the doctor indicated it will take four, five, or six months before I can even spar to assess how the bone is healing,” Paul informed a group of reporters at the Rousey-Carano news conference on Tuesday. “This timeline suggests a potential fight late this year or early next year.”

Paul (12-2) sustained fractures in two areas of his jaw when he was stopped in the sixth round of their meeting on December 19. He underwent his first surgery the following day and required a second operation in February. The YouTuber-turned-boxer is planning a return but intends to compete in a weight class where he feels more at ease after his heavyweight loss to Joshua.

“I will definitely be a cruiserweight,” Paul stated. “Joshua’s punches were significantly more impactful than those from fighters in my weight class. That’s where I perform best, without a doubt, and where I aim to continue advancing in the rankings and making an impact.”
