Former unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. is expected to conclude his nearly three-year absence from the ring with a June bout against former junior middleweight champion Tim Tszyu in Australia, as confirmed by sources to ESPN on Tuesday.

The announcement of Spence’s comeback was initially reported by Ring Magazine.

This match, which will be the main event of a PBC on Prime Video PPV, marks Spence’s first fight at 154 pounds and is being aimed for either June 6 or 13 at a yet-to-be-determined location in Australia.

Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) last competed in July 2023, where he was overwhelmed, knocked down three times, and stopped in the ninth round by Terence Crawford in a bout to crown an undisputed welterweight champion.

Following that significant defeat, Spence had remained relatively silent, leading to speculation that his fight with Crawford might have been his final appearance. However, rumors regarding Spence’s return began to emerge in early 2025, linking him to a potential matchup with WBC junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora. That fight did not materialize as Fundora proceeded to arrange a bout with Keith Thurman.

At 35, Spence is now set to face fellow veteran and former WBO junior middleweight champion Tim Tszyu on his home continent of Australia.

Tszyu, 31, has encountered difficulties in recent years, suffering three losses in four fights after starting his career with a record of 24-0, two of those losses coming by way of stoppage. After falling short in a rematch with Fundora last July, Tszyu rebounded with a unanimous decision victory over Anthony Velazquez in December.

Tszyu (26-3, 18 KOs) is reportedly aiming to secure a fight in March on the undercard of Lewis Crocker vs. Liam Paro in Australia prior to facing Spence. It remains unclear whether the result of that match will influence the anticipated summer clash with Spence.
