Brandon Adams collapses prior to weigh-in; Agyarko bout called off

Junior middleweight Brandon Adams has pulled out of Saturday’s bout against Caoimhin Agyarko after collapsing in his hotel room in Las Vegas and being admitted to the hospital on Friday morning prior to his scheduled weigh-in.
According to a representative from his team, Adams is in stable condition and is currently receiving IV fluids.
The match, which was slated to occur at The Cosmopolitan, has been cancelled, and the new main event for the DMG Boxing “Night of Champions” show on PPV.com will feature women’s bantamweight Chantel Navarro facing Perla Lomeli.
In a prepared statement, Adams’ team indicated that he experienced chest pain before collapsing. He was taken to a hospital and will remain there overnight for monitoring.
“[Adams] is truly devastated about not being able to take part in this fight,” the team stated. “He put forth his utmost effort in this training camp and was eager to be on the verge of a world title opportunity. He empathizes with his opponent Agyarko, who traveled from abroad to compete and is looking forward to making this fight happen as soon as he recovers.”
Adams (26-4, 16 KOs) was coming off a unanimous decision victory against Serhii Bohachuk in September on the undercard of Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Adams is currently ranked as ESPN’s No. 8 junior middleweight.
