Former three-weight champion Gervonta Davis was taken into custody in Miami on Wednesday, two weeks after an arrest warrant was issued for charges including battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping, as reported by Miami Gardens police.

As per police statements, the department, in collaboration with the United States Marshals fugitive task force, executed a surveillance operation across three counties to locate Davis, apprehending him without incident in the Miami Design District.

Davis was processed at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, according to jail documentation.

The arrest warrant was issued on January 14. Authorities allege that Davis entered a gentlemen’s club on October 27 and confronted his former girlfriend. It is claimed that he took the woman, who served as a VIP cocktail server at the club, into a back room and assaulted her, using force to restrain her against her will.

The police report states that Davis allegedly seized the woman by her hair and throat, warned her, “You think I would not find you,” and subsequently took her to the club’s parking lot, where he eventually let her go.

The woman reported to police that she met Davis in 2022 and they were in a relationship for five months in 2025 before it ended, after which she ceased communication with him.

The woman, identified as Courtney Rossel, filed a report with Miami Gardens police and also initiated a separate civil lawsuit against Davis.

“What the police stated aligns perfectly with our lawsuit. Therefore, whatever investigation they conducted was sufficient for a judge to authorize an arrest warrant,” the woman’s attorney, Jeff Chukwuma, informed ESPN on January 14. “The state attorney had to make a determination beforehand, which coincides precisely with our civil complaint.”

In January, the attorneys representing the woman in her civil case indicated in court that they had attempted to serve Davis with the civil complaint multiple times but were unsuccessful.

Davis was preparing for a fight against Jake Paul at Kaseya Center in Miami in October. He was removed from the event following the filing of the lawsuit and was replaced by Anthony Joshua. His most recent fight was in March, which ended in a draw against Lamont Roach Jr.

Davis has a history of legal troubles, including previous domestic violence allegations. Many of the cases against him have been dismissed. In 2023, he received a sentence of three years of probation and a 90-day house arrest due to a hit-and-run incident in Baltimore.

The impact of Davis’ arrest in Florida on his probation in Maryland remains uncertain.
