April 9, 2025, marks the 20th anniversary of the gold medal game of the 2005 IIHF Women's World Championship where the U.S. defeated Canada 1-0 in a shootout to earn its first ever IIHF Women's World Championship title. Since 2005, the U.S. has gone on to win an additional nine world championships for 10 total.
LAST TIME IN ČESKÉ BUDĚJOVICE
The last U.S. team to compete in Cask Budejovice was the 2005 U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team that went on to win the 2005 IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship. Phil Kessel, Stanley Cup Championbrother to USWNT great, Amanda Kessel, led the team in scoring with 16 points.
