GAME DAY | U.S. Faces Norway Today as Men’s Worlds Roll On 1 | ASL

HERNING, Denmark – The U.S. Men’s National Team faces Norway today in its fourth of seven preliminary round games at  the 2025 IIHF Men’s World Championship. Opening faceoff is set for 4:20 p.m. local time/10:20 a.m. ET at Jyske Bank Boxen. All U.S. games in the world championship can be seen live on NHL Network.

Team USA has won two of its three games in the tournament to date. The U.S. suffered its first loss of the tournament in its last outing on Monday (May 12), with besting Team  USA, 3-0.

Cutter Gauthier (3 goals, 1 assist) and Frank Nazar (2 goals, 2 assists) each have four points to pace the U.S. offensively and rank tied for ninth in the tournament.

Norway is winless through three games with losses to Kazakhstan (2-1) on May 10, (2-1) on May 11, and Germany (5-2) yesterday (May 13).

The U.S. has played Norway 21 previous times in the world championship and won all but one game. The teams last met in 2022 with earning a 4-2 victory in the seventh and final game of the preliminary round. The U.S. was down to just four defenseman and used forwards Sam Lafferty and Riley Barber on the blueline in the contest. Goaltender Jeremy Swayman, who could get the start today, played the first period and did not allow a goal on nine shots.

Team USA will have two days off after today’s game and return to the ice on Saturday (May 17) to face Germany at 12:20 p.m. local/6:20 a.m. ET.
