FRISCO, Texas – The U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team will play for a bronze medal as it takes on Slovakia today (May 3) in the bronze-medal game of the 2025 IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship. Puck drop is slated for 2:30 p.m. local (3:30 p.m. ET) inside Comerica Center.

Team USA fell, 4-3, against Sweden in the semifinal game Friday (May 2). Goaltender Patrick Quinlan (Kennett Square, Pa.) kept things scoreless early with a clutch save, and Garrett Lindberg (Moorhead, Minn.) opened the scoring in the second period. Sweden quickly answered with two goals to take the lead.
Drew Schock (Green Bay, Wis.) tied the game late in the second with an unassisted effort, but Sweden struck twice in the third to go up 4-2. Cullen Potter (Minneapolis, Minn.) cut the deficit with a late goal, and the U.S. pushed hard with the goalie pulled, but couldn’t find the equalizer and fell, 4-3.
This will be the first meeting between Slovakia and Team USA in a medal round but will be the fifth matchup between the two teams in the knockout rounds. Team USA is 2-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) in both the quarterfinal and semifinal round and has totaled 27 goals for and seven goals against.
The team’s last faced each other past the preliminary round during the 2024 tournament (May 4, 2024) as the U.S. won, 7-2, in the semifinal round.
