Hard Chargers DLC brings extreme conditions to EA Sports WRC 24

Hard Chargers DLC brings extreme conditions to EA Sports WRC 24 1 | ASL

Though excitement is high for the upcoming F1 25, EA Sports’ other big racing sim franchise is not left out of the fun. The Hard Chargers DLC for WRC 24 is for hobby drivers with brave souls, adding some of the most challenging conditions and tracks in the series’ history with its launch this week.

Hard Chargers has a dozen new stages on two fresh tracks, six each for Rally Sweden and Acropolis Rally Greece. They recreate the conditions found on these roads during the most recent real-life stops of WRC there. Shortened and reversed versions are available for extra variety, too.

Sweden’s Umeå is the coldest race WRC currently offers, and Hard Chargers allows players to challenge its race-ending snow banks in the beautiful countryside. Greece’s Harvati is going to be challenging for different reasons, as the mountain passes require extremely precise driving as well as continuous attention to get through in one piece — falling rocks are a lethal danger here. The stages in Hard Chargers are an upgrade in terms of visuals and feel over the base game, and you can easily lose yourself in the vibrant landscapes you rush past, which is one easy way to fall prey to the aforementioned dangers.

During our hands-on time with the DLC, the track in Sweden suffered from some optimization issues, leading to persistent stuttering, so the developers definitely have some work left to do.

Here are the stages available with Hard Chargers:

  • Sweden: Umeå (10.8km)

  • Sweden: Sandbacka (10.8km)

  • Sweden: Ersmark (10.1km)

  • Sweden: Ersboda (10.0km)

  • Sweden: Umeå Sprint (5.2km)

  • Sweden: Haga (5.0km)

  • Greece: Harvati (14.1km)

  • Greece: Pisia (14.2km)

  • Greece: Drosopigi – Aghia Triada (8.8km)

  • Greece: Perachora (8.8km)

  • Greece: Irini – Schinos (8.3km)

  • Greece: Posidonia (8.2km)

Naturally, players get a few fresh toys to deal with these conditions in the form of new cars. One of WRC’s most fabled rides ever, the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC ’21, brings immense speed to the table, while classic vehicles like the Ford Focus WRC ’99 and Ford Escort RS 1600 MK1 add an old-timey feel to these scenic tracks. Hard Chargers also adds the Rally3 class to the game, filling it with the Renault Clio Rally3 and the Ford Fiesta Rally3, while the Opel Corsa Rally4 and Renault Clio Rally4 reinforce the line-up that’s well-suited for beginners.

Finally, another set of liveries is included with the DLC.

  • Ford Escort MK2: “Ford” (1979)
