John Daly undergoes hand surgery, expects return in 'no time' 1 | ASL

John Daly said Tuesday that he’s recovering from “emergency hand surgery.”

The two-time major champion shared the news on Instagram, saying the procedure in , , went “great” while thanking his doctor “for getting me mended back.” The post was accompanied by a picture of Daly in a hospital bed with his left hand heavily wrapped.

Daly, 58, didn’t say what prompted the surgery but indicated it won’t keep him sidelined long.

“Be back playing in no time,” he wrote.

Daly, always a fan favorite, played 16 events on the PGA Tour Champions in 2024, making the cut in 15. The 50-and-over tour sent the colorful Daly its well wishes after his surgery.

Daly famously won the 1991 PGA Championship at Crooked Stick after he made the field as the ninth alternate, wowing fans with his big tee shots and “grip-it-and-rip-it” style. He also won the 1995 Open Championship at St. Andrews.
