GAME DAY | U.S. Takes on Norway in Sled Worlds Preliminary Round Action

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The U.S. National Sled Team will take on Norway here today in its opening contest of the 2025 World Para Ice Hockey Championship at the LECOM Harborcenter. Puck drop is set for 1:30 p.m. ET. Fans can purchase tickets here, and stream the game live on USAHockeyTV.com and Peacock.

Team USA enters the contest with a 13-1-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record on the season, including winning the 2024 IPH Cup in Ostrava, Czechia, in October, as well as the 2024 Para Hockey Cup in Charlottetown, P.E.I., in December. The U.S. also went 2-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) vs. Canada at the 2025 Reeve Hockey Classic in Saugus, Mass., in February, and 2-0-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) in the 2025 Sled Series vs. Canada in Thorold, Ontario, in March.

All-time, the U.S. holds a 48-3-1-16 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record in world championship play, including 11 podium finishes and a record six gold medals. Most recently, Team USA took home silver at the 2024 World Para Ice Hockey Championship in Calgary, Alberta. 

These two teams have faced off nine previous times on the world championship stage, with the U.S. holding a slight edge with a 5-0-0-4 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record vs. Norway all-time at Sled Worlds, including five consecutive victories. The most recent world championship matchup between these two squads took place in 2019, where the U.S. won 10-0 in the preliminary round.
