BUFFALO, N.Y. – The U.S. National Sled Team will take on Canada here today in the gold-medal game of the 2025 World Para Ice Hockey Championship at LECOM Harborcenter in its quest for a record seventh world championship gold medal.

Each of these teams will enter the gold medal game with a perfect 4-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record at the tournament through the preliminary round and semifinals.
Team USA skated to victories against Norway, Slovakia, and Czechia to take the top spot in Group B in preliminary-round play, before defeating China, 6-1, in the semifinals yesterday (May 30) to advance to a 10th-consecutive gold-medal game. Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.) recorded five points in the win over China, giving him a tournament-best 18 points (10g, 8a) through four contests.
Canada finished as the top seed in Group A after wins over Germany, Korea, and China in the group stage, before skating to a 3-0 victory over Czechia yesterday (May 30) in the semifinals.
This will be the eighth-consecutive World Para Ice Hockey Championship gold-medal game between the U.S. and Canada, with the U.S. winning four of the previous seven contests. Most recently, Canada defeated Team USA, 2-1, in the 2024 World Para Ice Hockey Championship gold-medal game in Calgary.
Team USA carries a 17-1-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) season record into the game, including a 7-1-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record against Canada this year, with victories in the IPH Cup championship game in Ostrava, Czechia, in October, and the Para Hockey Cup championship game in Charlottetown, P.E.I., in December.
Across all competitions all-time, these squads have faced off 132 times, and Team USA holds an edge with a 60-13-7-50-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) record. In Sled Worlds-specific matchups, the U.S. is 8-2-0-7 (W-OTW-OTL-L) all-time vs. Canada.
