GAME DAY | U.S. National Sled Team Set to Play Canada in Para Hockey Cup Preliminary Round

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The U.S. National Sled Team will play Canada here today at the Bell Alliant Centre in its third and final preliminary round game of the 2024 Para Hockey Cup. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. local/6 p.m. ET, and the game will stream live here. 

The U.S. and Canada both enter this contest unbeaten at 2-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L), and the winner will enter Friday’s (Dec. 13) semifinals as the top seed. 

The U.S. won its opening game against China 10-1 on Sunday (Dec. 8), and followed that up with a 7-1 win over Czechia a day later (Dec. 9). Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.), who recorded a hat trick in Monday’s tilt against Czechia, leads all skaters in goals (5) and points (6) at the tournament.

Canada enters the game coming off a 7-1 win over China on Monday (Dec. 9). In its opening preliminary round contest on Tuesday, Canada beat Czechia 9-2. 

The winner of tonight’s contest will play China in the semifinals, with the losing team advancing to face off against Czechia. 

The U.S. and Canada have faced off 125 times across all competitions, and Team USA holds an edge with a 54-13-7-49-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) record. The most recent matchup between these two teams was in the IPH Cup championship game in October, which the U.S. won 5-3.
