FRISCO, Texas – The U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team continues preliminary round play as it faces Switzerland today (April 24) for its second game in as many days at the 2025 IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 p.m. local (8:00 p.m. ET) inside Comerica Center.
Today's game, and all Team USA games throughout the U18 Men’s World Championship, will broadcast live on NHL Network.

The U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team kicked off the 2025 IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship with a comeback 4–2 win over Czechia. Will Horcoff (Birmingham, Mich.) scored the game- winning goal with just 2:17 remaining in regulation, capping off a strong third-period surge for Team USA.
After falling behind 2–1 early in the final frame, the U.S. responded with a pair of late goals. Blake Fiddler (Frisco, Texas) tied the game with 4:13 left, assisted by LJ Mooney (West Mifflin, Pa.), who recorded two helpers and was named Team USA’s Player of the Game. Less than two minutes later, Horcoff buried the go- ahead goal on a rush, assisted by Will Moore (Ithaca, N.Y.).
Mikey Berchild (Minnetonka, Minn.) opened the scoring for the U.S. in the first period after a series of key saves by goalie Patrick Quinlan (Kennett Square, Pa.) energized the squad. Czechia responded with a power play goal early in the second period and later added a short-handed tally in the third to briefly take the lead.
Quinlan finished the game with 20 saves, including several key stops to keep the U.S. in contention. Jacob Kvasnicka (Plymouth, Minn.) sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the final seconds.
ALL-TIME AGAINST SWITZERLAND
The U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team is 11-0-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) all-time in 12 games against Switzerland in the U18 Men’s World Championship. Team USA averages 5.1 goals per game and allow just 1.5 per game. All but two meetings have been in the preliminary round as Team USA holds a 9-0-0-1 record. The U.S. has won by 2+ goals in eight of the nine wins and has tallied 5+ goals six times. The all-time history in the prelims between the two countries is below:
