Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke to avoid surgery on knee

Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke is set to begin a non-operative treatment and rehabilitation plan for the high-grade PCL sprain in his right knee and is expected to make a full recovery prior to next season.

The decision to avoid surgery was made “over the course of several consultations,” according to the team, and the recommendation for this treatment plan was made unanimously.

Clarke suffered the knee injury during a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on March 19. He was later ruled out for the rest of the season.

The PCL sprain was the second significant lower-body injury of Clarke’s career; he tore the Achilles tendon in his left knee late in the 2022-23 season.

Clarke recovered fully from the Achilles tear, appearing in 64 games for Memphis this season while averaging 8.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in 18.9 minutes.

Clarke, 28, has two years and $25 million left on his deal.
